A thought on LotR
So, I’m hugely excited about the upcoming Hobbit movie… And so, have been going back through LotR and the Silmarilan as well as wikis and such. Doing such I had a thought about the Maiar….
So, follow my train of thought if you will.
Maiar are essentially the stewards of the Valar. Each Maiar is assigned to a Valar (Gandalf was originally assigned to Manwe and Varda but moved over to Nienna. Saruman was the Maiar of Aule. Sauron was orriginally of Aule but then became the Maiar of Melkor. Etc.) We only hear about a few of the Maiar (The above along with Radagast the Brown, Alatar and Pallando both attributed to Blue, Eonwe and llmare neither colored, Osse and Uinen neither colored, and Melian wife of Thingol, and Ungoliant.) But there are said to be many Maiar.
With that said here’s where I start thinking my odd thoughts. We attributed most of them with colors (Gandalf the Grey and then White, Saruman the White and them All Color, Radagast the Brown, the 2 blues. etc.) So, not thinking about why or how they come by the color attributes I thought randomly about how many would have different colors.
And then I thought of the unfortunate Maiar that come to bear unfortunate colors. How much would it suck to be So-and-So the Tan… So-and So the Ecru…. How about So-and-So the Puce? What a horrible sounding color! I thought I had found the worst… but then my cruel mind found the most unfortunate color…. So-and-So the Nude. That would be horrible…. Honestly, I would become a hermit…. Hermit Maiar the Nude. T_T
Sorry for my rambling… I thought I would share with you for a laugh. XD
